Daytime Event - ESPCOP Pre-Congress Course

  • Join us the day before Euroanaesthesia 2024 for a pre-congress course covering the fundamental points of anaesthesia in obesity.
  • International Experts will discuss; aspects of and workup for bariatric surgery; the disease processes and societal consequences of obesity; the impact of obesity on the cardiovascular, respiratory system and on the pharmacology of anaesthetic drugs.
  • Further lectures will cover airway management, PONV, analgesia and anaesthesia strategies - pulling the theoretical and practical aspects together. The meeting will conclude with a complex case discussion and finish with an interactive self-assessment quiz.

The Anaesthesia for the Patient with Morbid Obesity - Key Issues, ICM – International Congress Center Messe, Munich, Germany 24/05/2024 - 24/05/2024, has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 5.5 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Evening event - ESPCOP Research Forum

  • The day continues with an evening of cutting-edge research presentations in Bariatric and Obesity anaesthesia, current controversies in the best peri-operative care of these patients, and networking with your peers!
  • Trainee Prize Abstract Competition - €500 / €300 / €150 prizes for best three!
  • Details of abstract format and rules are here. Closing date is Friday 5th of April (by midnight). 
  • Three high-level pro-con debates:
  1. TIVA in bariatrics? - Volatile anaesthesia is still best for my patient!
  2. GLP agonists in pre-op weight reduction are safe and the future.
  3. Endotracheal intubation remains the default airway in bariatric surgery.
  • Followed by Buffet Supper & Networking
